This is the first shot I’ve done as part of phil’s infamous shot bible. I’m beginning with the framing section which examines all the different devices used in cinematography to “frame” the subject matter within the view. While I don’t plan to re-visit any of these shots for awhile(its more about the camera) feedback is welcome. All animation, lighting, camera & staging, and post effects done by me using Source Film Maker by Valve.

So I’ve tried to upload this straight to tumblr. like four or five times, but I gave up so here it is on youtube. I did the introductory tutorials for this software called Source Filmmaker, released by Valve. It’s a all in one animation, video capture/editing, soft ware that the company Valve uses to make all their “meet the…” videos along with any trailer or promotional shorts. I’m pretty excited about the power of this software as it will allow me to do animation and layout scenes that I could have never done otherwise. The software allows you to import any of the Valve models, environments, rigs, sound clips, and use them. I realize this isn’t a demo reel piece, its only the first project I’ve ever done, and it was the result of a guided tutorial introduction, but keep an eye out for more to come!

Thanks for the feedback guys!! I knew the run had problems when I left it to push ahead, but I’ve been revisiting it, and I feel like it’s smoothing out a bit. @Conner, I haven’t kept track of how many hours spent, but its a effort of a few hours here and there over several weeks. Working full time makes it hard to come home and animate, so I don’t work on it everyday.

Stupid tumblr. I can’t figure out how to reply to your comment. If you’re talking about the somersault, that’s the only place with ground close enough to land. The overhang is only shorter in that direction. Otherwise it’s a full two story drop, and a person would be like to hurt themselves.
